I made a big decision for myself this week. And I definitely had to think long and hard about it.
But, I have decided to quit my stint as the Prairie Dog's Street Wear photographer/writer...my last one will be published early March. After 20 months of photographing and interviewing some fantastic people, only 3 more to go.
There are a few reasons...but it really comes down to my family, my business, volunteering and taking on too much. I have been working time and a half for about 4 years, and you know, I am pooped!
The publications have definitely given my business a kick in the ass. Which is fantastic, and I am definitely grateful for that. But, it also means less time to work on my personal photography...and I really miss creating images just for me. And when I am creative, my client work is better as well.
So all in all, I felt it was the best thing to do for sanity and the future of my career in the field of photography. It is hard trying to be an entrepreneur and an artist at the same time. And I need to give myself the chance to do both. For me, they go hand in hand.
And, hey, I think a girl deserves one day off a week! At least!
